The much-speculated expansion of the Tripura cabinet is likely to take place on Tuesday.

This will be for the first time since 2018, when the BJP formed government in Tripura that a cabinet expansion will take place.

The expected cabinet expansion in Tripura comes amid rising dissidence against chief minister Biplab Deb.

According to reports, decision on cabinet expansion was taken late on Monday night following series of meetings of the Tripura BJP in Agartala.

Notably, amid infighting in Tripura BJP, four central leaders of the saffron party arrived at Agartala on Monday for a week-long state visit.

It is being speculated that the sudden rise of Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Tripura’s politics has forced the BJP to rush its central leaders to Agartala.

According to reports, first time MLAs in Tripura from the BJP – Ramprasad Paul, Bhagaban Das and Sushanta Chowdhury are likely to be inducted into the state cabinet.

There are as many as four cabinet portfolios that have been lying vacant.
