Rajib Banerjee, a former minister in the Mamta Banerjee government who had left Trinamool Congress to join BJP, on Sunday returned to the party at a public meeting in Tripura.
Banerjee joined Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the presence of the party’s general secretary Abhishek Banerjee at Agartala.

Banerjee was inducted into the national executive committee of the BJP earlier this month.
“I realized that I cannot accept the politics of hatred and divisive ideology propagated by BJP. I cannot accept the anti-people policies of the BJP,” he said.
Banerjee said he is sorry for his decision to join BJP.

“I will work under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee,” he added.
Banerjee had contested the West Bengal polls as a BJP candidate from Domjur constituency but lost to a TMC candidate.
