Tripura Kailashahar clash
The DGP said legal action had been initiated and a detailed investigation was under way.

Agartala: Security personnel, including Tripura State Rifles troopers, central forces, and police, were deployed in Kailashahar following clashes between two factions of the BJP.

Sources said tension had been building between the groups over a government contract. The situation turned volatile when BJP Mandal president Pritam Ghosh went to the Katal Dighir Par area, where the clashes subsequently erupted.

The violence and vandalism prompted police to resort to a lathi charge and fire four blank rounds to disperse those involved, sources added.

Police and local sources reported that Ghosh sustained injuries during the clashes, while the residence of BJP Yuva Morcha president Arup Dhar was allegedly attacked. Several motorcycles and at least one residential structure were damaged during the unrest.

Ghosh later told reporters that he had gone to the area after receiving information from locals about alleged harassment and claimed that he and those accompanying him were attacked. He also stated that a police complaint would be filed naming those allegedly responsible.

Senior police officials rushed to the scene following reports of the violence. Unakoti district Superintendent of Police Sudhanbhika R, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rahul A, and Kailashahar police station Officer-in-Charge Tapash Malakar oversaw operations to bring the situation under control.

As a precaution to prevent further escalation, police personnel, Tripura State Rifles members, and central force troopers were deployed in and around the affected area.

Addressing reporters, SDPO Rahul A said police took immediate action after tensions escalated due to the clashes. He noted that the measures adopted were in line with established procedures and aimed at restoring order.

He added that the exact circumstances leading to the violence were still under investigation, and a thorough inquiry would determine the sequence of events.

Allegations have been exchanged by both sides, while maintaining law and order remains the administrationโ€™s priority. No arrests have been made so far.
