Tripura: Badal Chowdhury interrogated in police station

Former Tripura minister Badal Chowdhury was interrogated on Wednesday at Agartala West Police station.

Police officials told Northeast Now that Chowdhury was brought to the police station on Wednesday morning before being taken to the district court.

Chowdhury, a Central Committee member of CPI (M), was arrested on October 21 for his alleged involvement in a Rs 630 crore scam.

Since the arrest, Chowdhury was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Agartala.

The former minister was brought to the police station on Wednesday for interrogation.

He was interrogated for more than an hour in the police station, the police officials said.

During the course of interrogation, Chowdhury complained of chest pain and uneasiness, and was rushed to the GB Hospital.

Meanwhile, the CPI (M) Politburo claimed that Chowdhury was apprehended on false charges.

Chowdhury was absconding after a local court denied him anticipatory bail on October 16. The high court rejected his bail plea on October 22.

Arrest warrant was also issued against former chief secretary Yashpal Singh in connection with the same case.
