Agartala: The Tripura government has designated Guardian Ministers for each of the state’s eight districts to improve supervision of development projects, strengthen coordination among government departments and ensure the effective delivery of welfare schemes at the grassroots.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration (Confidential and Cabinet) Department on July 17, Cabinet ministers have been assigned specific districts where they will serve as the state government’s representatives and oversee developmental activities.
The Guardian Ministers will regularly review the progress of ongoing infrastructure and welfare projects, monitor the implementation of key government schemes and address public grievances. They will also work closely with district administrations and elected representatives, including MLAs, Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis, to ensure the timely execution of development initiatives.
Under the new arrangement, Santana Chakma has been assigned North Tripura district, Sushanta Chowdhury will oversee Unakoti, Bikash Debbarma has been given charge of Dhalai, Ratan Lal Nath will supervise Khowai, Pranajit Singha Roy has been assigned West Tripura, Kishore Barman will oversee Sepahijala, Animesh Debbarma has been entrusted with Gomati and Brishaketu Debbarma will look after South Tripura.
Officials said the move is aimed at strengthening the state’s monitoring framework, improving inter-departmental coordination and ensuring balanced and efficient implementation of development programmes across all districts through closer ministerial oversight.
