Agartala: The Tripura Government on Wednesday sought additional forces of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) as the flood situation worsens in the state due to heavy rainfall.
The government has also closed all the schools, Anganwadis as well as Colleges.

As the situation is turning grim due to the flood, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking additional deployment of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
On X, Saha wrote that on Wednesday morning he spoke with the Union Home Minister and briefed him on the current situation arising out of the severe flood situation in Tripura.

“Spoke to Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah Ji and briefed him on the current situation arising out of severe flood situation. I also requested to despatch additional NDRF teams to support our response efforts”, Dr Saha wrote.
The Chief Minister further informed wrote Home Minister assured me of all possible support during this crisis.
“I am grateful to him for providing all possible support to us at this hour”, he added.

Meanwhile, Saha also announced the closure of all government schools and colleges.
Since August 19, Tripura has been witnessing massive rainfall following which flood situation has been created following which 7 persons died due to landslide and over 5000 has already taken shelter.
Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced the closure of schools and colleges.
On Facebook Saha wrote, “Important Announcement: Due to the current situation and heavy rainfall, the government has declared a two-day closure for all schools on August 21st and 22nd. Additionally, all colleges will remain closed on August 21st. All students, teachers, and staff are requested to stay safe and follow the instructions”, he wrote.
