A number of Bru extremists laid down arms on Sunday and a surrender ceremony will be organised in the first week of 2020, informed an Assam Rifles official.

“The extremists belong to Bru Revolutionary Army of Union (BRAU) and 220 members are going to surrender before Assam Rifled soon,” the official added.

“On Sunday the members deposited weapons that included 4 AK series rifles, one Chinese rifle, 6 pistols, some shotguns and a number of country-made guns,” the official added.

BRAU was formed in 2012 and Rajesh Chorky is the founding president of the group, which was mostly active along the Tripura-Mizoram border.
