A terminated teacher of Tripura committed suicide out of frustration.

The deceased has been identified as Uttam Tripura.

Uttam, who committed suicide on Friday night, was a resident of Rajnagar in South Tripura district.

Locals said his wife, who totally lost her control after the death of her husband, made attempt to sacrifice her life with Uttam.

However, her neighbours and in-laws prevented her from doing so.

Uttam Tripura was a primary teacher and was one the 10,323 teachers, who were terminated according to the directive of a Supreme Court order.

He committed suicide by hanging in his home leaving behind his wife, two children and old parents in Wanchang village under Rajnagar police station.

His parents said, “Uttam worked as a labourer after passing ‘Madhyamik’ examination because of poverty. But in 2014, he got the job of a primary school teacher.”

After being sacked from service with effect from April 1 last year, Uttam faced a huge financial crisis as he had no other means to maintain his family.

He even took loans to maintain his family and failed to repay the loans.

On Saturday morning, Uttam’s family members found him hanging.

The incident has shocked the other terminated teachers who have been protesting since December 7 to get their jobs back.

The terminated began their protest on December 9, 2020.

The terminated teachers on Saturday paid tributes to Uttam Tripura.
