The SDM had briefly imposed this section on November 17 after Bru refugees reportedly attacked a pump operator, critically injuring him.

They had reportedly also attacked villagers in two villages and looted their belongings on the same night.

Hundreds of people took the streets of and forcibly closed down government offices, schools and other institutions in the area after the section was removed on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) said that although it has lodged a police complaint on the attack on the pump operator, no one has been arrested so far.

The committee launched an indefinite strike on October 16 in the area opposing the rehabilitation of Bru refugees in the sub-division.

Many political parties have extended their support for the JMC.
