Agartala: A devastating storm wreaked havoc across Tripura, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. According to a comprehensive assessment by the State Emergency Operation Center in Agartala, over 616 houses bore the brunt of the calamity.

Among them, 37 homes were completely razed, while 125 suffered severe damage, and 454 were partially affected.

Sepahijala District emerged as the worst-hit area, with a staggering 392 houses in disarray.

Within the district, Jampuijala Sub-division witnessed 23 houses succumb to the fury, while Sonamura Sub-division and Bishalgarh Sub-division recorded 14 and 355 damaged houses respectively.

The impact extended to other districts as well. Unakoti reported 14 houses grappling with partial and severe damage, while Dhalai District counted 124 affected homes.

In the West District, 21 houses bore the brunt, followed by Khowai with 33, Gomati with 24, and the South District with 8 damaged houses.

The aftermath of the storm also resulted in the uprooting of numerous trees, damage to electricity poles leading to power outages, road blockades, and vehicles crushed under fallen trees and poles.

However, swift action by authorities ensured the clearance of obstacles and the restoration of normalcy to the best of their abilities.
