Second wave of COVID-19: Tripura records highest single-day cases spike of the year

With the second wave of COVID-19 hitting India hard, Tripura on Tuesday recorded the highest single-day COVID-19 cases spike of the year. 

Tripura, in the last 24 hours registered 62 COVID-19 positive cases.

This is the highest number of COVID-19 cases that Tripura logged in a single day since the start of this year. 

Since April 1, Tripura has registered as many as 338 COVID-19 positive cases. 

Moreover, 2 people have also succumbed to COVID-19 this month.

At present, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 273. 

In the last 24 hours, 2099 people have been tested in Tripura. Of them, 62 samples tested COVID-19 positive.  

Tripura Government has also canceled leave of all doctors and nurses in the state. 

Amid the surge, the public have abstained from following the COVID guidelines and all offices and educational institutions are functioning as normal.

With festivities like Bengali new year, Garia, Bishu, Baishu and other festivals around the corner, there is a growing concern about the rise in the number of cases in the coming days.
