School students in Agartala on Thursday staged a sit-in demonstration in front of Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s residence.

A group of school going students in uniform blocked the road in front of Ratan Lal Nath’s residence and staged a sit-in demonstration.

As a result, vehicular movement came to a standstill in the area.

They were led by NSUI leader Samrat Roy.

Speaking to the media, NSUI leader Samrat Roy said that they wanted to meet Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath to discuss the problems faced by many schools in the State including shortage of teachers.

The protesting students and the NSUI leader decided to stage sit-in protest in front of the Education Minister’s residence after they were informed that he was not present at his home.

The NSUI leader further said that Ratan Lal Nath should step down as Tripura Education Minister if he is not being able to perform his duties.
