Tripura Legislative Assembly seminar
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju expected at Tripura Assembly accountability seminar.

Agartala: Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju are likely to attend a state-level seminar on the responsibility and accountability of elected representatives, to be organised by the Tripura Legislative Assembly on February 27, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath said on Wednesday.

Addressing reporters at the Assembly premises, Nath said Chief Minister Manik Saha, Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Choudhury, MLAs, MPs, MDCs, and elected representatives of civic and rural bodies are also expected to participate in the seminar-cum-workshop.

Nath said the programme aims to sensitise elected representatives, from the panchayat level to the Assembly and Parliament, about their duties and responsibilities towards voters. He added that the seminar would focus on transparency, accountability, and effective public service.

Acting Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Ram Prasad Paul, said the event would be held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala.

He noted that while similar programmes have been attended by members in other states, such an event had not been organised by the Tripura Assembly previously.
