“Following the counting of Lok Sabha votes on June 4, miscreants targeted and vandalized the party office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPIM]. The next day, a bust of the late poet Himadri Nandan Dev was defaced. On the night of June 8, the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was desecrated”, he said.

He said that the statue of Rajiv Gandhi was installed by the Kailashahar District Congress in 2009 near Srirampur Bridge in the West Gobindapur area.

Sinha also accused the ruling party’s supporters of orchestrating the attacks under the cover of darkness, calling them “cowards” and challenging them to act openly if they possess true strength.
