In another heinous act, amid lockdown, a pregnant woman was allegedly gang-raped in a jungle by three men in Tripura’s Gomati district.

The incident took place at Killa area on Sunday night.

According to reports, the pregnant woman, a mother of an eight-year-old son, had gone to Ompi market under Taidu police station of Gomoti district.

At the market, the woman met one Kouthar Jamatia, whom she met via social media.

Jamatia offered to drop her home by his car but after she got into his car, he took her to Devtamura area, where two of his friends were waiting for him.

The woman said they subsequently dragged her into a nearby jungle and raped her throughout the night.

The two youths have been identified as Salka Jamatia and Salsukang Jamatia.

On the basis of the complaint of the woman, Killa police booked them under relevant sections of the IPC and arrested them on Monday.

The victim’s husband worked in Mizoram and due to lockdown he is stranded there.
