Speaking to reporters after attending a blood donation camp and conference of the BJP Mahila Morcha, Deb said, “This Government is working towards women empowerment and here, the large number of women taking part in blood donation is an instance in this regard. This is their right and we have decided for 10 per cent horizontal reservation for women in the recruitment of police, this is just the starting and we wish more would come.”
He added, “After the new Government came to power, in just two months under the Central scheme, Ujjwala Yojana, more than 1.06 lakh LPG connections have been provided to the women of the State.”
Deb also stated, “I have even discussed with the Education Minister and we are thinking about reservation for women in teachers’ recruitment, because they play a vital role as teachers. However, I will raise it in the Cabinet and it will be decided there. I am confident that my Cabinet ministers will work towards realizing the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards empowering the women.”
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the blood donation camp of women and encouraged the donors and stated, “It is not the empowerment of women rather the State is getting empowered with the women power.”
MLA Asisk Kumar Saha, BJP State general secretary Pratima Bhowmik and other leaders were also present in the blood donation camp organized on the occasion of the National Doctors’ Day.
