The Congress in Tripura, along with rest of the nation, held Satyagraha on Monday demanding justice for the Hathras gang-rape victim.

The nationwide Satyagraha was announced by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi after they met the gang-rape victim’s family on Saturday.

As per the schedule, the Tripura Congress took part in the nationwide Satyagraha and it was held at its headquarters in Agartala before Rajiv Gandhi’s statue.

Tripura Congress president Pijush Biswas, while interacting with the media, said, “The Satyagraha has been organised demanding justice for the 19-yer-old girl, who was brutally gang-raped and killed.”

“Her family was not allowed to carry out her cremation as well,” he added.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his attitude, has maligned the nation’s image in front of the world. We have no words to condemn this attitude,” Biswas added.

He also lashed out at the Uttar Pradesh government for its lackadaisical attitude in handling the entire case.
