While BJP state general secretary Pratima Bhowmik said that her party strongly condemns such incident and even if the culprits would have been from her party also then they should not be spared as culprits have no political, religious, caste or gender and are only culprits.
Meantime, the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) on Monday welcomed the CBI investigation into the murder of television journalist Santanu Bhowmik but it smells a ‘conspiracy’ by some elements to malign the party.
It may be recalled that IPFT was the first party that raised demand for CBI inquiry into the death of Santanu.

IPFT assistant general secretary Mangal Debbarma reacting on the report of CBI booking three IPFT leaders beside 300 to 500 others said, “The party will extend all possible support to the CBI for their initiative to unearth the truth. We want real culprits to get punishment. But there are gossips that a few IPFT leaders are associated with the incident. We vehemently oppose such gossips”, he said.
Asked if he believed his party comrades were falsely implicated by CBI, Mangal said, “We do not have full details yet. But we feel there might be conspiracies at work”.
He also said opposition political parties might be involved in the conspiracies.
Meantime, Sadhan Bhowmik, father of the deceased journalist Santanu, who had appeared in the High Court against the then Manik Sarkar-led Left Front government’s SIT investigation and demanded a CBI investigation on getting the information expressed his satisfaction and hope now his son will get justice.
