“We are happy with the meeting. Home Minister Rajnath Singh gave us the indication that he was also in favour of the process of implementing NRC in Tripura,” Hrangkhawl said adding “after completing the process in Assam, the same process will be started in Tripura.”

Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and Satyendra Garg, joint secretary (NE) in the Home Ministry were also present in the meeting.

The INPT last month submitted a memorandum to the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India pursuing their demand for NRC in Tripura.
