Agartala: The Northeast Council’s Plenary Meeting, scheduled to take place in Agartala on August 31 and September 1, has been postponed due to the severe flooding currently affecting Tripura.
In a statement on X, the Northeast Council announced the postponement, citing “unavoidable circumstances.” “The Plenary Meeting Scheduled in Agartala Postponed. The Plenary meet scheduled to be held in Agartala, Tripura is postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. New dates will be announced in due course,” the post read.

The meeting was to be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, with the participation of all Chief Ministers and Governors of the Northeastern states.
Heavy rainfall since August 19 has led to widespread flooding in Tripura, forcing over 60,000 people to seek shelter in over 400 relief camps.
