Tripura agriculture minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Saturday said that the previous CPIM government had not done much to develop the agriculture sector in the state.

Roy said this while inaugurating the newly constructed 1,000 metric tonnes seedbed at Ichai Lalchhara Krishi Bazar under Kadamtala and Kalachhara agriculture subdivisions in North Tripura district.

The minister also inaugurated the newly constructed Krishak Bandhu Kendra and Krishi Regional Office at the premises of the Ichai Lalchhara Krishi Bazar.

Pranajit Singha Roy said, “The previous CPIM government had done nothing to develop the agriculture sector. There was no facility like cold storage to store crops in the state during its tenure.”

The seedbed with a capacity of 1000 metric tons of seeds will give the ultimate benefits to the farmers.

The farmers will be able to procure good quality seeds and saplings from the seedbed facility.

“The government is always in favor of the farmers and is trying to double their profits,” said the agriculture minister.
