The executive registrar of the National Forensic Science University has also sought clearance to finalise the proposed place at the earliest.

The executive registrar of the university in his letter to the chief secretary wrote: “We request you to kindly provide a suitable building which has minimum 10 to 15 classrooms @ 50 square meter each and 4 to 5 Halls of 40 square meters each per laboratories and 4 to 5 halls for administrative staff and library.”

The National Forensic Sciences University, the erstwhile Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, is the brainchild of the Gujarat government.

The university was established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then chief minister of Gujarat in 2009 with an objective to create professional experts in the field of Forensic sciences.

The university currently has two campuses – Gujarat and Delhi.

The Gujarat campus is the first campus of the National Forensic Sciences University at Gandhinagar.

The Delhi campus of NFSU was renamed the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS) in 1991 and again renamed after Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan in 2003.
