Tripura DGP AK Sukla on Sunday indicated that more people might fall in police dragnet in the kidnapping case of TGB staffs.
“Investigation is not completed and we are still in the process”, Sukla said.
“We had carried our search operation by helicopter also during rescue hours. Altogether nine persons have been arrested so far”, he added.
Addressing the media in Agartala on Sunday he said, “We were very close to the kidnappers and so they changed their location twice. They were in Tripura and the whole state was alerted. We collected information from each and every place and based on the information we placed our cordons, started our searching.”
“Yesterday in very coordinated actions we conducted raids at various places spreading over three districts, Gomati, Khowai and West district and apprehended nine persons involved in this incident, ” the DGP said.
All those arrested were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody.
Though police officially denied that the hostages were released against any ransom, the family members of the released bank employees claimed that they had paid fifty lakhs of rupees as ransom to the abductors.
Sukla informed that some of the arrested persons were surrendered militants.
