AGARTALA: Around 12,000 central and state paramilitary forces will be stationed in Tripura for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The voting will occur in two phases, with the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat and Ramnagar assembly seat elections slated for April 19, followed by the Tripura East Lok Sabha seat on April 26.

Currently, 84 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are deployed in Tripura, including 14 companies of CRPF that arrived recently.

Assistant inspector general of Tripura police Jyotishman Das Chaudhury assured that no additional central forces will be sent, considering the adequacy of the current deployment.

Each CAPF company comprises approximately 80-100 personnel.

Additionally, about 4500 Tripura State Rifles personnel will assist in election-related duties, while the BSF maintains vigilance along the India-Bangladesh border.

Following the first phase of voting, some central forces will relocate to areas within the Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency.
