Ruling coalition partner in Tripura, Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) joined the demonstration organised by National Federation for New States in Delhi on Sunday.
IPFT had sent five hundred volunteers to New Delhi to take part in the demonstration for separate statehood.
A large number of supporters from across the country seeking separate states under the banner of National Federation for New States participated in the demonstration. The demonstrators urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider the demand of separate state including Tipraland.
IPFT’s participation in the new states movement triggered off questions among the opposition parties in Tripura.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that registered a thumping majority with 36 seats in the Assembly elections of Tripura and its pre-poll ally Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) has eight seats in its kitty.
