Many came along with their family members to the bank of river Howra to bid adieu to the goddess Durga and her family.
Dr Sailesk Kumar Yadav, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation said, “As the number of puja pandals is quite huge, immersion could not be completed on a single day and it had to be continued on Sunday also. There were around 120 immersions at the Battala Dasamighat on the first day and today already around 35 immersions have taken place and hopefully, it will be completed. However, last year we saw that even a day before Laxmi puja immersions did take place. The AMC workers clean the river so that till morning it is clean. Today also after completion of the immersion cleaning will take place.”
He added that adequate security measures have been taken even for the immersion of the idols beside lighting facilities.

Hundreds of people a stood by the roadside as well as well in Dashamighat to watch the immersion and bid farewell to goddess Durga.
The immersion ceremony symbolizes the end of the goddess’s annual sojourn to her paternal home and she returns to her husband Lord Shiva at their heavenly abode in Mount Kailash.
