Former Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar has stressed on the reshuffling of the party with young leaders.

Sarkar, while addressing the celebration of the 101st foundation of the CPI(M) on Saturday at Agartala, laid importance on the reshuffling of the party with the young generation and urged the elders to get ready to leave the chairs and motivate more youths to join the party.

Sarkar, who is a politburo member of CPI(M), said, “It’s not possible that a person in his old age can carry the works with the same ability as a young man because it’s a natural process.”

“So it has become crucial to keep the balance and to prepare the next generation and promote the young figures. Seniors will have to leave your current position,” Sarkar said.

“I will not leave my chair in my whole life…is very wrong thinking and harmful for the party,” added Sarkar.

There have been allegations against the senior CPI(M) leaders that they don’t allow young faces to take top positions of the party.

Sarkar further stressed on fighting with Communist ideology and to restore democracy by defeating the communal forces in the country.

He asked the state party workers to raise the local issues as much as they can after categorising them with area-wise.

“Communist ideology should not have to wait for centuries to get fulfilled but from now with full passion, the success of communism to be felt,” he said.

CPI(M) state secretary Gautam Das also spoke on the occasion.
