“The vaccination teams followed all norms and suggestions while conducting the dry run,” he said.

The union health ministry on Saturday began dry-runs for Covid-19 vaccines in all states of India to check the final preparations regarding the distribution and administration of vaccines and maintenance of the cold chain.

So far, dry-runs have begun in 118 districts of the country and vaccination drills are underway in 259 camps.

Health officials said that the Covid-19 vaccination will begin in the state as soon as the central government gives the green signal and preparations for the same have been made.

However, the state health department does not know the exact time when the vaccine will arrive in the state.

The Indian government will vaccinate 300 million people in the country in the first phase and it may take six to eight months to vaccinate this targeted population.

Union health minister Harsh Vardhan has announced that Covid-19 vaccines will be provided for free to people across the country.

Health workers, armed personnel, other frontline workers together with people with co-morbid conditions and the aged will be given priority.

The health ministry has so far conducted successful dry-runs in Assam, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.
