Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday told the State Assembly that the BJP-IPFT government has created job opportunities for 3,000 unemployed youths in the state ever since it came to power.

In response to MLA Ranjit Das’ query on plans of the government to ensure employment generation in the state, Tripura Chief Minister Deb said that a fair employment policy has been made as soon as he assumed office, reports TOI.

Chief Minister Deb also told the House that the BJP-IPFT has helped 3,800 people to become entrepreneurs in the last 11 months.

The Chief Minister informed the House that around 983 teachers have been recruited for government schools in Tripura through Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET).

Deb also said that the process to recruit 2014 jawans for the Tripura State Rifles has already been started and the jawans recruited would fill up the posts of the two India Reserve (IR) battalions in the state.

He also added that in the last eleven months, 820 registrations were made for small and medium scale enterprises.

The Tripura CM also said that the first mega food park which was recently inaugurated in the state will generate employment for 30,000 people.

The food park known as Sikaria Mega Food Park Pvt Ltd has been set in 50 acres of land at a cost of Rs 87.45 crore.

Deb said that the state government is planning to develop tourism sector which can provide ample job opportunities for youths in the state.

He also stated that there has been an increase in income from tourism sector in the state.

He further said that plans are also going on to develop an IT hub in the state.

The CM criticised the Left Front government for being unable to create entrepreneurship avenues in the state during their rule and he further added that people were more dependent on government jobs during that time.
