The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Tuesday held demonstrations in Agartala, the capital of Tripura demanding re-poll in 464 of the 1,679 polling booths in the Tripura West Parliamentary constituency, and free and fair poll in the Tripura East seat on April 18 next during the second phase.

A day long protest was held at the Orient Chowmhuni area in which hundreds of CPI-M supporters and senior leaders including former chief minister and politburo member Manik Sarkar and sitting parliamentarian Jitendra Chowdury took part.
Meantime, CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Monday last along with Left Front candidate for the Tripura West constituency Sankar Prashad Datta visited the Election Commission of India (ECI) and submitted a memorandum with videos and photographs in support of their demand.
