“In the early 70s, during our practice at NSRCC, I witnessed the Late Madhusudhan Saha, a Gymnast, who represented Tripura admirably at the national and international levels, bringing many awards to the state. After his demise, when I visited his family, I assured them that the state government would one day give him due respect. Today is a happy day, and our government aims to honour those who have worked credibly for Tripura, many of whom are no longer with us. I express my gratitude to the Youth Affairs Department for this initiative”, said Saha.

He highlighted the challenges faced by sports people in the past, mentioning that during state sports meets, athletes had to stay in schools to participate in sports.

“We don’t want upcoming players to face such issues, and for that, our government is working tirelessly. We will open Yuva Awas in every district to ensure convenience for athletes. We aim to establish these accommodations across the state. Following PM Modi’s directives, the Tripura government is actively working. Firstly, we must understand ourselves, which is why PM Modi emphasizes performing Yoga to know oneself”, he added.
