Coming out all guns blazing against the section of BJP leaders who raised anti-Biplab slogans recently, Biplab Deb said that he will seek people’s view on whether he should continue as Chief Minister or not.

The Tripura Chief Minister further said that if the people of the State don’t wish to see him continue as Chief Minister, he will inform the same to the party’s central leadership.
“I will go to Vivekananda Maidan on December 13 and ask people of Tripura to come there to tell me whether I should stay as Chief Minister. If people don’t support me, I will inform Central party leadership,” said Biplab Deb.

Notably, on Sunday BJP workers and dissident MLAs of the ruling BJP government in Tripura shouted slogans against Tripura chief minister, Biplab Kumar Deb.
Shouting slogans, “Biplab Hatao, BJP Bachao” these MLAs and workers demanded a change in the state leadership.
They also tried to block the vehicle of state BJP in-charge, Vinod Sonkar, demanding the chief minister’s removal.
Breaking his silence on the recent speculated rift with the State BJP, Biplab Deb appealed the people of the State to converge at the Vivekananda Maidan on December 13 and give their views.
A visibly emotional Biplab Deb, while briefing the media at the Tripura Secretariat in Agartala said, “I am saddened by the sloganeering. I am committed to work for the development of the state.”

It may be mentioned here that in October, a delegation of ‘dissident’ BJP MLAs led by former health minister Sudip Roy Barman, visited New Delhi to talk with party president JP Nadda, reportedly to seek Deb’s removal.
“I shall ask 37 lakh people of Tripura to tell me what to do. I shall abide by whatever mandate you give for me and place my wish likewise before my party high command that people of Tripura wanted so,” he said.
However, Biplab Deb, sending out a stern warning to the ‘dissident’ MLAs, asked the people of the State to ‘decide’ what should be done with those who raised slogans against him if he continues as Chief Minister.
“If you want me to stay, you decide what should be done with people who raised those slogans. I shall uphold whatever you decide,” said Biplab Deb.
