BSF troops have seized narcotics and other contraband items in huge quantities during various operations along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura.

Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier informed amid the COVID19 pandemic, troops of the force in Tripura Frontier are continuously contributing to the anti-narcotics drive to make Tripura a “drug-free state”.

BSF personnel seized 7,390 bottles of Phensedyl, 1,500 Yaba tablets, 69.95 kg of ganja and other miscellaneous contraband items worth Rs 26,18,279 on Monday night.

Based on a specific BSF intelligence input about stocking of a huge quantity of Phensedyl in the house of one Priyatosh Shil at Tindapha under Jatrapur police station, a joint operation was conducted by BSF troops of BOP New Nidiya, 130 Bn BSF and a police team from Jatrapur PS.

During a thorough search in the house in the presence of its owner Priyatosh Shil, the joint operation party seized 7,200 bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs. 12,21,768 and detained the house owner.

The apprehended house owner along with the seized Phensedyl was handed over to the police for further legal action, the BSF Tripura Frontier said in a statement.

Besides, during the wee hours on Tuesday, BSF jawans of Srimantapur outpost seized a sealed packet containing 1,500 Yaba tablets worth Rs. 7,50,000.

The seized Yaba tablets were handed over to the police, it said.
