The Border Security Force (BSF) troops of 74 battalion and 145 battalion seized 6,850 numbers of Yaba tablets worth Rs 34,25,000 during two different operations among the India-Bangladesh international border in Tripura.

The first drive was conducted on specific information of the intelligence cell of BSF, in area of responsibility of BOP Ashabari, 74 Bn BSF by putting special ambush near village Rahimpur.

At about 7:30 pm, the party observed two miscreants approaching towards the international border from India side along with some packets.

On being challenged by the special ambush party, the miscreants fled away, throwing the packets over the fence, which got stuck on the fence.

The BSF party searched the area and recovered 1900 numbers of Yaba tablets from the packets worth Rs 9,50,000.

The seized contraband tablets were later handed over to Boxanagar police station.

In an another joint operation, on specific information, troops of BOP N C Nagar, 145 Bn BSF and staff of Sonamura police station, laid ambush in the suspected area.

At about 11:30 pm, the patrolling party noticed a motorcycle moving towards Bangladesh side and challenged him to stop.

On seeing the BSF and police party, the bike rider fled away leaving behind the bike.

On searching the bike, the ambush party recovered 4950 numbers of Yaba tablets worth Rs 24,75,000 and the Pulsar bike from the spot.

According to release issued by the BSF, the total value of the seized items is Rs 25,25,000.

The seized items were later handed over to Sonamura police station.

The BSF in conjunction with local law enforcement agencies relentlessly following state goal of a drug free Tripura, for the benefit of society, in general and youths, in particular, by effective domination on the border.

This year, the BSF, in Tripura, at different locations, has successfully seized approximately 1,60,000 numbers of Yaba tablets to keep check on recent spurt noticed, in smuggling of these synthetic drugs.
