In a case of ‘political conspiracy’, as termed by the BJP, the brother of a saffron party leader has been killed in Tripura.
The police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Kripa Ranjan Chakma, who was gunned down in the wee hours of Saturday.
Kripa Ranjan Chakma was the brother of Mahatya Ranjan Chakma, who is the general secretary of the Chawmanu Mandal Committee of BJP.
Kripa was a resident of Jalachara of Chawmanu under Manikpur police station in Dhalai district.
He was shot dead while he was sleeping in his house.
“We have arrested three persons in connection with the murder. They are Braja Mohan Chakma, Hemanta Chakma and Uttar Kumar Chakma,” police sources at Manikpur police station said.
The police said a combing operation has been launched in the tribal-dominated areas to nab all the people involved in the murder.
The BJP has termed the incident as a case of “political conspiracy” ahead of the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
