An ASP, an SDPO, two officers in-charge and other investigating officers have been quarantined in Tripura after an arrested woman tested positive for Covid-19.

The woman was lodged in the West Agartala Women’s Police Station, tested positive for COVID-19 while in custody, police said on Sunday.

The woman was arrested on charges of stocking up cough syrup bottles, said a police official.

On June 30, a police team had conducted a raid on the woman’s house in the Lankamura area and arrested her after recovery of 215 bottles of contraband cough syrup, the official said.

After her arrest, the woman’s swab was collected for test and she was confirmed positive.

Following this, six police personnel from the West and East Agartala police stations, two women police officials from the court and three jail staff who had come in contact with the woman, have been sent to home quarantine.
