IPS officer Amitabh Ranjan will be the next Tripura DGP.

Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb cleared all the formalities for the appointment of IPS officer Amitabh Ranjan as the next chief of Tripura police.

He will replace AK Shukla, who will retire as the Tripura director general of police (DGP) on January 31.

Amitabh Ranjan is a 1988 batch IPS officer of the Tripura-Manipur cadre.

He is currently posted as the additional director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) under the union ministry of home affairs.

According to sources, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kr Deb is hopeful that Amitabh Ranjan will be successful in maintaining law & order in the state.

Meanwhile, additional director general of police Rajib Singh will hold the additional charge of Tripura DGP until Amitabh Ranjan takes the charge.
