After reports of 489 Covid19 positive cases from Tripura’s Sepahijala district, three blocks in the district have been declared as containment zones.
The three blocks are Nalchar, Kathalia and Boxanagar.
This was confirmed by Chandra Kumar Jamatia, the district magistrate of Sepahijala district, on Sunday evening.
Jamatia said the Covid19 situation has taken a worst turn in Sepahijala compared to all other districts in the state.
While Tripura has registered a total of 1,061 Covid19 positive cases, Sepahijala alone has recorded 489 positive cases and the cases continue to rise on daily basis.
Meanwhile, new Covid Care Centres have been set up in the district.
Keeping in view of the Covid19 situation in Sepahijala, the district administration has decided to declare the three blocks as containment zones.
Nobody can enter or exit from the areas in these three blocks, the district magistrate said.
On Saturday, a high-level meeting was held in presence of additional chief secretary Sanjoy Kumar Rakesh and other top-level officials.
Alarmed by the increasing cases of Covid19 infection in the Sepahijala district, the state government on Sunday notified the three blocks as containment zones to keep infections at bay.
As per the notification, issued on Sunday, in the containment zones – Kathalia, Boxanagar and Nalchhar blocks – the movement of people outside their homes will be restricted by rules and prohibitions.
The district magistrate said the containment zone rule will be applicable with effect from June 15 to June 28 .
“Health staffs will visit every household and check the people and notice their health conditions,” the district magistrate said.
