Agartala: The law enforcement agencies on Friday apprehended a cross-border human trafficker from Belabar area in Agartala city of Tripura.
The trafficker was apprehended in a joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and the state police from Palpara in West Tripura district.

Speaking to media persons, officer in-charge of Agartala GRP Tapas Das said the arrest followed an ongoing investigation into a human trafficking case, which led them to identify the trafficker.

The trafficker has been identified as Raju Mia (40).

“We arrested Raju Mia who is an accused in a previous case registered with the GRP. He has been arrested for being involved in trafficking of Bangladeshi and other foreign nationals across the international border,” Das said.
“Our men were looking for him for the last few days and he has been finally arrested. During interrogation, he revealed the names of several others involved in human trafficking,” he added.
The accused was later produced before the court.
