“In Tripura since long blood donation camps are being organized by various clubs, social organizations, political parties, etc. We have to systematize it, because if all donate together, by three months time the blood will get spoiled. So we have asked the principal secretary of health to prepare a calendar in next one week. It will be prepared so that the big donors like the TSR which have 12 battalions consisting of at least 12,000 to 10,000 donors and if each battalion donates each month then we get if not less 12,000 bottles annually. There are also police, paramilitary – like BSF, Assam Rifles, CRPF who normally donate blood but we have to go routine wise and which was not happening,” said Deb who also is in-charge of the State Health department.

He added, “This has come to our notice and we have asked the principal secretary to come with a calendar.  Moreover, other groups like officer’s union, clubs, NGO are in addition. Recently, I have noticed blood crisis, it should not have happened. Now the government is bringing it under a system and by next one week it will happen in a rotation so that there will be no crisis of blood in Tripura.”

Along with the chief minister, another 150 members of the TCSOA donated blood at the camp said the president of the association Dilip Kumar Chakma who himself also donated blood.
