Guwahati: A Border Security Force (BSF) head constable deployed along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura was seriously injured on Friday after being attacked by a group of suspected smugglers in the state’s West Tripura district.
The BSF jawan was attacked at the Kalsimura area in the early hours of Friday when he intercepted the group while trying to smuggle in contraband items from across the border.

The miscreants hit the BSF jawan with sharp weapons and bamboo poles when he was engaged in a scuffle with the group.

The head constable had to fire a round in the air when the miscreants tried to snatch his service rifle.

The group soon fled from the scene after the BSF personnel fired the shot.
The BSF jawan was admitted to a hospital with head injuries.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged with the local police in this regard.
