Guwahati: The railway police of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway) apprehended three Rohingyas from Tripura’s Agartala railway station on Sunday.
A joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP), during a routine check, detected suspicious activities of a group of people at the railway station. On being interrogated, they could not produce any valid documents.

The trio, all Rohingyas, soon revealed that they entered India illegally and were planning to leave Agartala by boarding the Kanchanjunga Express. Later all the Rohingyas were handed over to the officer in charge of the GRP, Agartala for further legal action.
During 2023-24, a total of 340 illegal migrants, including Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals, were apprehended at different stations over the jurisdiction of the NF Railway by the RPF.
The RPF staff deployed at railway stations and trains are always alert towards illegal infiltration from border areas. RPF keeps up a steady routine of checks at the railway stations and trains to prevent infiltration of illegal immigrants.
