In a show of strength to reclaim its lost glory, the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) organized a rally at Khumulung, the head quarter of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council on Tuesday.

The rally was organized in the hills with a demand for Assam like National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the State.

The rally was attended by a sizeable number of tribal youths.

Though the rally was organized under the banner of Youth INPT, the party mobilized all its forces to make it a success as people from different parts of the State turned up at Dukhmali, from where the rally began.

INPT president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawal, secretary Jagadish Debbarma, assistant secretary Rabindra Debbarma, Shib Charan Debbarma, president of the Youth INPT Jammu Debbarma and secretary Uma Shankar Debbarma delivered speeches in the rally.

Notably, this is the first major rally after the formation of the BJP-IPFT government in the State.

The leaders participating in the rally mostly targeted the Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Twipra (IPFT), a constituent of the ruling alliance.

They accused the IPFT leaders for betraying the tribal people of the State.

Apart from NRC, the leaders also demanded scrapping of the proposed amendment of the Citizenship Bill, more power to the TTAADC, inner line permit, inclusion of Kokborok in the eighth Schedule of the Constitution and the likes.
