Tripura: Prohibitory orders imposed in North district’s Kadamtala after 2 groups clash

Guwahati: The administration on Sunday imposed prohibitory orders in North Tripura district’s Kadamtala area in the wake of a clash between two groups over collection of donations for Durga puja.

Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sajal Debnath imposed the prohibitory orders under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The prohibitions will remain in place till Wednesday in order to restore normalcy.

North Tripura Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhanupada Chakraborty told reporters that a communal tension erupted between two groups at the Kadamtala area over collection of Durga puja donations but the police soon dispersed the mob.

SP Chakraborty said the mob vandalised two houses but heavy deployment of police personnel brought the situation under control.

He said legal action would be taken against those involved.
