Tripura got its first integrated AYUSH hospital at Kailashahar in Unakoti district on Tuesday.

The alternative medicines hospital, first of its type in the State, has the facility of Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Yoga.

The Tripura health and family welfare minister Sudip Roy Barman inaugurated the fifty bedded hospital in presence of MLA Bhagaban Das, Nitish Deb, vice chairman of KMC, Dr Shailesh Kumar Yadav, MD NHM and others.

Roy Barman said, “Three facilities Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Yoga will be made available to patients over here. These are the three aspects where the government of India is giving due importance as they do not have any side affects unlike allopathy. In a world of hurry and worry yoga plays a vital role to fight out the silent killer non communicable diseases like blood sugar and blood pressure that take away innumerable number of lives.”

The Minister added that other than Tripura, patients from neighouring Assam will also be getting treatment from the unique hospital in coming days when it will get popular with the alternative medicines.

He added, “Yoga undoubtedly will play a pivotal role in competing these silent killer. We believe that this hospital is going to live up to the expectation in delivering to the people of the State specially this region and we also believe once it picks up momentum people from Silchar, Karimganj and other places will also come here to avail this facility.”

The hospital has both OPD and IPD facilities along with Panchakarma treatment under Ayurveda.

On November 9, 2014 the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, abbreviated as AYUSH, a governmental body in India purposed with developing, education and research in the field of alternative medicines including ayurveda, yoga, unani, naturopathy, siddha and homoeopathy was formed.

The Ministry of AYUSH also ensures the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH systems of health care.
