Following the decision of the Central Government to reduce prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.50 per litre, the Tripura Government after a Cabinet meeting on Thursday also decided to give an additional relief of same amount on the auto fuels.
With the Tripura Government deciding top reduce prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.5, the consumers would now get total benefit of Rs 5 in the prices of petrol and diesel per litre.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb late in the evening, speaking to a section of media made this announcement.
He stated that due to the reduction in petrol and diesel prices the State Government would lose revenue of around Rs 50 crore annually but still the State Government has taken this decision for the benefit of the people of the State.

Common people and fuel filling station owners expressed that the decision would lead to a reduction in prices of daily use commodities as transportation costs will come down.
Earlier, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced that the Government has decided to reduce the central excise duty levied on petrol and diesel by Rs 1.50 in light of the skyrocketing fuel prices to ease the burden on the consumers. In addition to this, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) will cut their prices by Re 1, resulting in an effective fuel price cut of Rs 2.50.
