The Left party is particularly critical of BJP encouraging the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) for a separate Tripraland state.

Dhar said the party has come to know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly assured the IPFT delegation of forming a committee to find out the feasibilities for a separate state.

“The CPI-M has no objection with the electoral understanding between BJP and IPFT, but our concern is – the saffron party is encouranging the move for a separate state,” Dhar said.

Referring to the recent unrest and violent protests by IPFT activists in different parts of the State, Dhar alleged the PMO and BJP have covertly encouraged forces trying to disturb peace and tranquillity of the State.

Dhar also alleged the IPFT with the help of BJP has tried to obstruct the Ganab Mukti Parishad (GMP) rally and attacked GMP supporters injuring several of them severely, burnt vehicles and ransacked several party offices of CPI-M. Dhar also accused the IPFT-BJP combine of killing young journalist Santanu Bhwomik and private vehicle driver Jeevan Debnath brutally in September last year.

“Now, BJP’s state in-charge Sunil Deodhar is providing a protective shield to two charge-sheeted accused of IPFT, who are responsible for killing of Santanu Bhowmik,” Dhar added.

On the BJP’s move to protect the jobs of ‘sacked’ 10,323 teachers, Dhar said the CPI (M) will extend its support if the Union Government brings an ordinance in the current session of the Parliament bypassing Supreme Court’s order. He also termed BJP’s move ‘a political gimmick’ to woo the sacked teachers.

The Left leadership also demanded immediate arrest of two of the accused in the killing of Santanu Bhowmik, who recently joined the BJP in presence of Sunil Deodhar.
