Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday unveiled the lifesize bronze statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on his 127th birth anniversary in the ONGC base complex.
The towering 7 ft statue is the first of its kind in Tripura.
CM Deb rode over a fire brigade ladder based platform along with other dignitaries to unveil the statue.
On the occasion ONGC under its CSR activities distributed more than 50 rickshaws and an equal number of swing machines among the people scheduled caste and scheduled tribe community.
Speaking on the occasion Deb said Dr Ambedkar had a vision for allround development of the society by uplifting the downtrodden class of people but unfortunately till date this has not materialized because of those who ruled India for the majority of time. But now a pro-people government is there at the centre which wants Saab ka sath, Saab ka vikash. In Tripura also the new government is focused and within three year’s time want to make this state as a model state.
In another programme speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Rebati Mohan Das along with MLA Ramprashad Paul, Asish Saha, Dr Dilip Das paid floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar in the old Assembly premises.
