Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday held a crucial meeting with a three-member panel headed by former Chief Secretary of Assam, P P Verma, at his office in Agartala.
The panel was constituted to provide seventh central pay commission to the government employees and pensioners,
Notably, it was one of the most primary promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of recently concluded Assembly elections.
Presently around two lakh employees and pensioners are receiving pay and pension at par with the fourth central pay commission.
It may be recalled that in the first Cabinet, the BJP-IPFT led government had decided to constitute a three-member committee to suggest on how to implement the seventh pay commission recommendation for the state government employees and pensioners.
The committee is expected to submit its report by the next three months, as per a notification issued by the government.
An amount of additional Rs 1459.51 crore will be required annually to implement seventh pay commission recommendation for the government employees and pensioners, according sources.
