Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday hit back at his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee for the latter’s comment on the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura at the recently held Assembly elections.
Mamata had in an interview discredited the BJP’s landslide victory on Communist ruled state of Tripura by equating the saffron party’s victory to ‘winning the municipal elections’.
In reply, the Tripura Chief Minister said that ‘Mamata didi should visit temples for mental peace’ and get her ‘brain examined in a hospital’.
The BJP with its alliance partner, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) defeated the 25-year Left Front rule in Tripura with a thumping two-thirds majority in the recently concluded Legislative Assembly elections in the State.
The BJP had won 35 of the 59 seats that went to polls in February last, results of which were declared on March 3 last.
